Capanna Cadagno is a mountain hut in the northern part of Ticino, above the beautiful Lago Ritom reservoir. It was renovated in 2013, so everything feels fresher than the typical older mountain hut.

It's relatively easy to reach the hut, so a good choice for casual hikers and families that want a mountain hut experience. You can even ride a mountain bike to get there.

After riding a funicular train up the mountain, it's about a 2 hour hike to the hut, either on a service road or a mountain trail. My trail map shows a loop, going up the mountain trail and coming back on the road.

The food here is a bit nicer than other huts we've visited, with tasty traditional Ticino dishes. We always stop here for lunch when hiking in the area.
