The Handeckfall bridge is a Nepalese-style suspension bridge built over the river, right next to the Gelmerbahn funicular station. From the middle, you can look down to some pretty waterfalls in the river.

It's free to visit, near the road. No mountain transport necessary to reach it.

We suggest combining this with visiting the Gelmersee. I would arrive at least 30 mins before your ascent time slot so you have time to walk over the bridge before getting in line for the funicular.

How to get there

It's just a short walk from the Gelmerbahn parking (See on map). The closest address is Hotel Handeck, Grimselstrasse 19, 3864 Guttannen, which is just past the Gelmerbahn. About 50 min drive from Interlaken.

The closest bus stop is Handegg, Gelmerbahn but the bus only goes twice a day. Check schedule on SBB.ch. About 1h30 from Interlaken.
