At the far end of the village, you'll find picturesque Castle of Gruyères, built in the 13th century.
For a fee, you can explore the castle interior and grounds and learn through an "enhanced reality" audio guide on your phone. They also have tours designed for children to make the visit more fun.
Even if you don't tour the castle, it's nice to take pictures from the outside, particularly the Grand Tour photospot just below the castle.
Open: every day year round • Apr–Oct 9:00-18:00 • Nov–Mar 10:00–17:00
Note that the castle garden is only open Easter thru October.
Accessibility: the castle has lots of stairs, so not suitable for strollers, wheelchairs or those with reduced mobility.
