Consolation Lakes offers an accessible and family-friendly hike near Moraine Lake. This easy 5.8 km round-trip trail is perfect for beginners and can be paired with the Moraine Lake Lakeshore Trail or Rockpile Trail for an extended adventure.
The hike begins with a stroll through old-growth forest, gradually opening up to an alpine meadow and wetlands, with stunning views of the scree slopes of the Tower of Babel along the way. At the lakes, you're rewarded with a breathtaking backdrop of Mount Fay and the Quadra Glacier, reflected in the crystal-clear waters.
With its minimal elevation gain and stunning scenery, Consolation Lakes is an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful, less crowded alternative to other hikes in the Moraine Lake area. It's a great spot to see wildlife, on our last hike we saw a porcupine, marten, tons of pika, marmots, and a few mule deer. Make sure to pack bear spray!
