Drinking water

Tap water is a no. Most homestays have a refill gallon ("galon") and will top up your bottle for a few thousand rupiah – cheaper than buying plastic bottles and far better for islands that have no waste system to deal with them.

Bring a reusable bottle with some capacity; boat days are long and hot, and there's no minimart waiting on a sandbank.
