Tucked away right next to the chaos of Harajuku and Shibuya, Meiji Shrine always feels like a deep breath. The moment you pass through that first giant torii gate, the city noise just fades behind you and you're wrapped in quiet forest paths and soft gravel sounds underfoot. It's honestly one of my favorite escapes in the middle of Tokyo.

If you're into peaceful vibes and grand, minimalist structures, this spot will hit just right. I love coming here early in the morning when it’s still quiet—before the crowds roll in and before the light gets too harsh. The contrast of the wooden gate against the dense green forest makes for a beautiful frame, especially if you catch a lone passerby walking through.

Best Time to Photograph:
Definitely early morning, ideally right after sunrise. Not just for the soft light, but for the calm. Later in the day it can get super busy, especially on weekends. The mornings are when this place truly feels sacred.
