Serlesbahnen Mieders: The Altar of Tyrol

If you are looking for a place where kids lose their minds with joy and adults lose their breath at the views, this is it. Dominated by the massive Serles peak, this is a natural playground that combines Alpine serenity with the most thrilling mountain coaster in the region.

Javi’s Insider Tips:

The High Viewpoint: I highly recommend walking up the small hill just above the lakes. From there, you get a perfect panoramic backdrop of the Kalkkögel and a stunning bird's-eye view stretching across the entire Stubai Valley.

Serlespark (Kid's Paradise): Right at the top station, there is a brilliant water play area. It features balancing channels and a wooden raft that kids propel themselves by pulling on ropes. It’s hilarious to watch and keeps them entertained for hours.

The Alpine Coaster (Pure Adrenaline): This is one of the longest and steepest alpine coasters in the Alps (2.8 km long!).

The Experience: You fly through forests and open meadows reaching speeds up to 42 km/h. You control the speed with a lever, but the real thrill is letting it go!

Price Note: This activity is NOT included in the Innsbruck Card. A single descent for an adult costs €16.00. While it’s more than it used to be, it is absolutely worth it for the rush.

Wildlife: You are almost guaranteed to run into roaming horses and cows near the top station. They are very photogenic, just remember to keep a respectful distance.

The Summit Hike: There is a trail leading to the Serles summit (2,717m), but be warned: this is an expert-only hike. It is physically demanding and technical. For a relaxed day, stick to the lakes and the "Serlesblick" platforms.

Access & Logistics:

Public Transport: Take Bus 590 from Innsbruck to the stop "Mieders Serlesbahnen" (about 25 minutes).

Innsbruck Card: The cable car ride up and down is 100% included for free. My advice? Use the card to get up for free, enjoy the lakes, and then pay for the Coaster ticket only if you want the fast way down.
