Sayulita, Mexico
One of the best parts of slow travel is discovering the places you would never find during a quick weekend trip.
After spending months calling Sayulita home, these are the shops, hidden gems, and local spots we genuinely return to again and again. Some don't have much of an online presence. Some we'd never have found without local recommendations or from stumbling upon them ourselves. All of them helped us fall in love with this town.
Consider this your shortcut to the Sayulita we know and love!
Shop:
• Alena del Mar: Beautiful Mexican-made linen, cotton, and jewelry pieces. Perfect if you're looking for elevated beachwear and quality craftsmanship.
• Manik: Another little boutique with Mexican-made fashion. Great men's button-ups, dresses and 2-piece sets for women.
• Boutique beside La Cubeta: I actually don't know the name, but I promise the window displays will stop you every single time. Unique Mexican-made clothing for babies, kids, women, and men.
• Nido Colectivo: A collective of local artists just steps from the beach. Handmade jewelry, art prints, beach-inspired gifts, bag charms, and more.
• La Cubeta: Our favorite local tienda. Say hi to Doña Carmen and tell her Enzo (the little licenciado) sent you. Don't leave without a Mazapán (they're Enzo's favorite after all.. tia will know;)
• Don Fidel, Don Fifi: You'll find him on the beach with a basket and the best papas and salsa you've ever had. If you like a little spice, get it with the 'suave' salsa, and if you like serious heat, he's go the fire for you.
• Don Crispin: You may see him posted in town with wheelbarrow and that's because he sells local coffee in it. When we say him in May he mentioned he was retiring, but we hope that means taking a break for the summer months.
Stay:
• Ratito: If you're looking for a luxury stay, search "Ratito" on Airbnb. They are the property management company that manages a brand new, beautofil build, a 5-minute walk form the plaza and up the street from one of our favorite coffee shops, Coyote Café. The building has only a handful of beautifully designed apartments, a rooftop pool, and a covered parota lounging areas.

More Local Recs:
• Grab a cold beer and play pool or foosball at the little depósito beside the baseball field. It's a great escape from the afternoon heat.
• Spend an evening at the plaza. You never know what you'll find.. live banda music, breakdancers, fire performers, or families gathering after sunset.
• Grab churros in the main square/ in front of the park and enjoy the break dancers, a fire show, or any artist that is performing that day!
