Hofsós Sundlaug is a small village in Iceland’s Northern region, known for its historical significance as one of the oldest trading posts in the country. Dating back to the 16th century, Hofsós has served as a hub for trading, fishing activities, and as a tourist destination. The village features a number of attractions, including the Drangey Exhibition hosted in the 1777 Pakkhús warehouse, Massacre Hill farm, which marks the site of an English marauders massacre in 1431, lodging in nearby guesthouses, a restaurant, coffee house, and camping site. Visitors can also enjoy pleasant walks along the shore with spectacular views of hexagonal basalt column formations, as well as beautiful vistas of Thorðarhöfði headland connected to land by low sandpits, with a lake rich in bird and fish life perfect for trout fishing.
