This museum on the harbor dives deep into Iceland’s intimate and sometimes dramatic relationship with sea. Walking through the different interactive stations, as well as reading and watching information, I learned just how much Iceland’s survival depended on the sea for generations.

It’s incredible to see the conditions that Icelandic fisherman has to endure to provide for their families and build their nation up from poverty. Thankfully, innovation in fishing equipment has made for safer ways of catching fish and created income that sculpted the country’s now modern society.

One of the most fascinating part of this museum is about the Cod Wars!
