Machu Picchu Tickets
Here's how to ACTUALLY get last minute tickets to Machu Picchu.

Welcome to the final section of your trip: Machu Picchu. If you already have your entry tickets, you can go at your allotted time. If you're like me and did not plan that far, don't worry. I gotchu.
Now, there are a lot of people saying "this is how you get last minute tickets" and to be honest I was so confused that I ended up just showing up and figuring it out. That being said, now I know how the process actually works.
There are 1000 tickets offered daily at the ticket office in Aguas Calientes. These tickets are for several different routes, with more tickets being offered for more popular routes.
These tickets are released a couple of days in advance, so you'll have to spend 2-3 days in Aguas Calientes after buying them until you can actually enter Machu Picchu.
The Plan:
Book your train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes with IncaRail. They will take care of your tickets and it'll be as smooth as it can.
Your bus will take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Here you'll be getting on the train to Aguas Calientes
BAGS
You can not take a big suitcase with you on the train unfortunately. What you're going to want to do is pack a smaller bag with everything you'll need for 3 days in Aguas Calientes and leave the rest in storage in Ollantaytambo. If you book with Incarail then you'll bring your extra stuff across the street from the Incarail building to a person that will check it for you. This is a free service and worked amazing for me.
Once you take the train to Aguas Calientes, you need to immediately go to the ticket office. Just look for it on google maps and follow people in line at the building. BRING YOUR PASSPORT AND CASH.
Book a morning tour for either Route 2a or 2b, unless you previously researched and chose a different one. You'll probably be booking a couple of days in advance so sit back and enjoy Aguas Calientes. You now have your tickets.
