Discover a true sense of peace at Kenchō-ji, the oldest Zen temple in Kamakura. The sprawling grounds are a beautiful place to wander, but the real magic lies at the back of the complex. A short, rewarding 15-minute hike up the trail will lead you to a stunning shrine with panoramic views over the city and out to the sea. There's a small entrance fee of ¥500, which is well worth it for the experience.

Located in Kitakamakura, the heart of Zen in Japan, this is a place where you can truly immerse yourself in the Zen spirit.

This is personally our favorite temple for finding true peace of mind.
