Hi friends, Kiersten here! Hartsfield-Jackson is the busiest airport on the planet, but as a frequent-flying Atlanta mom, I can promise you: it's actually one of the easier big airports to navigate with kids — IF you know a few tricks.

ARRIVAL TIPS:

• Allow 90 minutes for domestic, 2.5 hours for international. ATL's lines move FAST but it's huge.

• TSA PreCheck and CLEAR are LIFESAVERS with kids. CLEAR's family lane is at the South security checkpoint.

• Park at the ATL Park-Ride lot if you're driving — way cheaper and the shuttle is quick.

GETTING AROUND THE AIRPORT:

• ATL has a train (called "the Plane Train") that runs underground from Concourse T to F. Kids LOVE it — make this part of the adventure!

• You can also walk the underground tunnels with the moving art installations. The "Flight Paths" sound + light tunnel is a bucket list moment for kids.

• T concourse = domestic flights (Delta hub). E = international. F = international newer terminal.

WHERE TO EAT WITH KIDS:

• Concourse B: Chick-fil-A (always), Atlanta Bread Company

• Concourse C: One Flew South (sushi, surprisingly good with older kids)

• Concourse D: Paschal's Southern food

• Concourse E: The Varsity (Atlanta classic — get a Frosted Orange!)

• Concourse F: Cat Cora's Kitchen and One Flew South (international concourse)

KID ENTERTAINMENT IN THE TERMINAL:

• Concourse F has a kids' play area near gate F4 — soft seating, climbable structures

• Concourse T has a Sun Trust Park / Atlanta Falcons display kids enjoy

• Walk the Flight Paths tunnel at least once for the experience

• Window seats at most concourses for plane spotting

LAYOVER STRATEGY (3+ HOURS):

If you have 4+ hours, leave the airport! The Delta Flight Museum is a 10-minute drive and 100% worth it. Or take MARTA to Centennial Park (20 min) — see my "Atlanta Layover Rescue" itinerary for the full plan.

MAMA HACKS:

• Bring an empty water bottle and refill at the bottle filler stations (every concourse has them).

• Pack snacks — airport food is expensive and the kid menus are mid.

• Strollers are allowed all the way to the gate. Gate-check it last minute.

• ATL has a lactation room in every concourse near the family restrooms.

• If your flight is delayed, the Sky Club passes through Delta Amex are gold for families. Free drinks, snacks, and quiet.
