Yes, Switzerland is a hiking paradise BUT you don’t need trekking poles and toddlers in tears from hiking for miles to enjoy it
We’re not a hardcore hiking family (we enjoy hiking but not super long hikes with littles in tow) and we had incredible outdoor experiences in Switzerland. I'm convinced after this trip that you'll love Switzerland even if you HATE hiking! Think scenic gondola rides or short walks through beautiful towns and villages to mountaintop playgrounds, stroller-friendly trails, and adventurous thrill walks and toboggans.... and cafes you can stop at by all of it!
✅ You’ll find the best of these spots like Männlichen, Allmendhubel, Lauterbrunnen Valley, Zermatt, and more — inside the itinerary section of this guide. All of these pictures below required less than a mile of walking to get to from the nearest form of public transport or gondola! (many were far less than even half a mile)
✨ This is proof that you can experience the beauty of the Swiss Alps without dragging (or carrying) your kids up a mountain.... you can take the gondola and train up instead ;)
