One of the best-kept secrets of traveling in Portugal with little kids? You can often skip the line if you're pregnant or have a baby under 2!
Across Portugal—including at airports, train stations, pharmacies, and major attractions—there are priority access policies (acesso prioritário) for:
Pregnant women
Parents with infants or toddlers (especially under age 2)
Families using strollers
Look for signs that say “Acesso Prioritário” or ask a staff member if there’s a priority entrance. Portuguese culture is very family-friendly, and people are often quick to offer help or let you go ahead.
You’ll often find priority access at:
Lisbon and Porto airports (including separate security lines)
Train boarding areas (Comboios de Portugal is stroller-friendly)
Tourist attractions like Jerónimos Monastery, Sintra palaces, and museums
Grocery stores and pharmacies
Pro Tip: Even if there’s a line, don’t hesitate to approach a staff member and explain that you're pregnant or have a baby—they’ll usually wave you through.
This small perk can save you a ton of time and energy while exploring Portugal with little ones!
