DiverCity is the giant mall in Odaiba right behind the Unicorn Gundam, and it's actually a really useful kids stop for a few specific reasons (food court, shops, AC on a hot day, and a kids' arcade on the top floor). Don't go for shopping — go for everything else.
What makes it special: the food court on the second floor is one of the best in Tokyo for picky kids — ramen, curry rice, tempura, McDonald's Japan (with menu items you can't get back home), and crepes. Cheap by Tokyo mall standards. The 5th floor has "Gundam Base Tokyo" — a free-to-enter Gundam museum + the world's biggest Gundam model store. The 7th floor has "Round1" arcade with kid-friendly games and a small bowling alley.
Kid tips:
• Best for ALL ages. Toddlers plus little kids: stick to the food court + Gundam plaza outside. Older kids: Round1 arcade is GOLD.
• If you're doing the outdoor Gundam transformation show, time your meal to end 10 min before showtime. Easiest with a stroller.
• Stroller-friendly throughout. Family bathrooms with kid-size toilets on most floors.
• Indoor play / nursing rooms exist on the 2nd floor (look for the "baby room" signs — they're EXCELLENT in Japan: changing tables, hot water, microwave for warming bottles, comfy chairs).
• Closest station: Tokyo Teleport (Rinkai line) or Daiba (Yurikamome) — the elevated driverless train ride is a kid-favorite in itself.
• Free WiFi, easy AC escape on hot summer days.
We pair this with the Unicorn Gundam show, teamLab Planets, and a Yurikamome ride at sunset — a perfect Tokyo Bay day with kids.
