At 634 meters, Tokyo Skytree is the TALLEST tower in the world, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Mt. Fuji. The kids will be obsessed with the elevator alone (it's so fast your ears pop), and the glass floor on the lower observation deck is a guaranteed thrill — or terror, depending on your kid.
What makes it special: There are TWO observation decks — the Tembo Deck (350m) with the glass floor and the Tembo Galleria (450m) with a spiral walkway to the highest point. The whole base of the tower is the Solamachi shopping mall, which has a Pokemon Center, an aquarium (Sumida Aquarium with penguins!), a planetarium, and tons of family restaurants. You can EASILY spend a full day here.
Kid tips:
• Best for ages 3+. Toddlers plus little kids LOVE the glass floor (or hide from it — either way, memorable).
• BUY TICKETS ONLINE in advance — the line at the door can be 1+ hour. Pre-purchased tickets skip the wait.
• Go at SUNSET for the magic combo of daylight and city lights coming on.
• Stroller-friendly throughout, elevators between floors.
• Family bathrooms with changing tables on the observation decks.
• If you're short on time, just do the Tembo Deck (350m) — cheaper and the views are still incredible.
• Skytree Station (Tobu Skytree Line) or Oshiage Station (Hanzomon/Asakusa lines) right at the base.
• Sumida Aquarium below is a great rainy-day combo with kids.
We pair this with Sensō-ji and a Sumida River walk for a perfect old-meets-new Tokyo day with kids.
