Porkkalanniemen kärki, also known as Porkkalanniemi Recreation Area, is a windswept coastal peninsula that offers an easy and rewarding few-hour walk through some of the most open seascapes in southern Finland. Short, well-marked trails lead across rocky cliffs and low coastal vegetation, with constant views toward the open sea.

This is a perfect location for birdwatching and landscape photography. Over the years, I have photographed moonrises, winter storms, and calm summer evenings along these rocky shores. The light changes quickly here, and strong winds and moving clouds often add drama to the scenes. Come prepared with sturdy shoes and layers, as the terrain is uneven and the weather can shift fast.

There are very few services on site, so bring water, snacks, and insect repellent during summer. Parking is limited, especially on weekends, and reaching the area usually requires either a car rental or a bus connection followed by a hike. Plan around 2–4 hours to explore without rushing.
