EN🇬🇧 Arriving in Amboy from the south you will travel along a section of the legendary Route 66. The iconic highway built in the 1920s also known as "Mother Road" connects Chicago in Illinois to Santa Monica in California, crossing the United States from east to west. During its heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, Route 66 became one of the most famous icons of American culture and was lined with motels, diners, gas stations and tourist attractions, a thoroughfare for vacationing families and migrants moving west in search of opportunity. In 1985 it was officially removed from the national highway network, however, leaving an indelible imprint on American culture. Traveling Route 66 has always been considered the king of all road trips, and the thrill of crossing it even for a short distance (between California and Arizona) is truly great. Here in Amboy, in front of the historic Roy's motel, we encountered its first symbol painted on the asphalt.
