Like other residents of the area, they had to pay tribute to the Grand Duke, but they were able to purchase extra windows, which were a luxury at the time. This allowed them to have houses with three windows facing the street, whereas less wealthy residents had one or two windows. However, there are also some houses in Karaimų street that have four windows.
