Blue Eye Theth is one of the most iconic natural attractions in northern Albania and easily one of the best experiences in Theth National Park. Reaching it is part of the adventure: the trail takes you through beautiful alpine scenery, forest paths, rocky sections, rivers, and wooden bridges, before arriving at the famous turquoise spring hidden between the mountains.
What makes this spot so special is that it works perfectly as both a hike and a destination. The walk itself is incredibly scenic and peaceful, and once you arrive, you’re rewarded with one of the most surreal shades of blue water in Albania. The spring is ice-cold year-round, and in summer, brave visitors often jump in or take a quick swim - refreshing, but honestly freezing.
You can either do the full hike from Theth village for a proper full-day adventure, or start from Nderlysaj if you want the shorter and more popular version.
If you want the best experience: start early in the morning before the crowds and summer heat.
If you’re short on time: do the Nderlysaj start — it gives you the best part of the hike without the long road section.
The full hike from Theth is beautiful, but parts of it can feel long, especially in heat.
Bring proper shoes — some sections are rocky and can get slippery.
