Nestled in City Park (Városliget), Vajdahunyad Castle looks straight out of a storybook. Originally built in 1896 for the Millennium Exhibition to celebrate 1,000 years of Hungary, the castle combines multiple architectural styles - Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque - in one stunning ensemble. Today, it houses the Hungarian Agricultural Museum, but even if you don’t go inside, the castle’s turrets, towers, and moat make it one of Budapest’s most photogenic spots. The surrounding park, pond, and walking paths are perfect for a leisurely stroll, picnic, or quick photos, especially in spring, summer, and winter when the castle is illuminated.

Honest tip:
Even if you skip the museum, the castle is worth a visit - it’s beautiful for photos, walks, and seasonal events like the Christmas market or summer festivals.
