Ouarzazate is a desert city in southern Morocco often called the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Surrounded by mountains, rocky valleys, kasbahs, and desert scenery, the city is one of the main stops on road trips through southern Morocco toward places like Merzouga and the Sahara Desert.

Ouarzazate is especially famous for its role in the film industry - many major movies and series, including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy, were filmed in the surrounding region.

The city is home to Atlas Studios, one of the world’s largest film studios, as well as nearby historic kasbahs like Ait Benhaddou and Taourirt Kasbah.
