The Castle of Kruja is one of Albania’s most important historic landmarks, sitting high above the town of Krujë with sweeping views over the valley and surrounding mountains. It is best known as the stronghold of national hero Skanderbeg during the resistance against the Ottoman Empire.

Inside the castle complex you’ll find the Skanderbeg Museum, old stone walls, small museums and traditional houses that are still partly integrated into the fortress area. The atmosphere feels very historical, but also lively due to the nearby Old Bazaar.
