Rozafa Castle is one of the most important historic landmarks in northern Albania, sitting on a rocky hill above Shkodër where the Buna, Drin and Kir rivers meet. The fortress has ancient Illyrian origins and was later expanded by Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans, giving it layers of history in one place.

Inside the castle walls you’ll find ruins, open courtyards, and a small museum, but the main highlight is the panoramic view over Shkodër, Lake Shkodra, and the surrounding mountains. The setting is especially impressive at sunset.

  • Entrance fee: 400 Lek (+200 Lek for the Museum)

  • Walking Up to the Castle: about 10–25 minutes
