Tinsmiths Square, locally known as Place des Ferblantiers, is a lively historic square on the edge of Marrakech’s Medina, famous for its traditional metalworking heritage. The name comes from the tinsmiths and metal artisans who once worked here crafting lanterns, trays, and decorative Moroccan pieces by hand.
Today, the square still keeps part of that artisanal atmosphere, mixed with cafés, rooftop restaurants, local shops, and constant movement from both locals and travelers. You’ll often hear the sounds of hammering metal coming from nearby workshops, giving the area an authentic and slightly chaotic energy that feels very Marrakech.
It’s also a great transition point between different parts of the Medina, close to landmarks like Bahia Palace, the Mellah, and several rooftop bars. During the day it feels busy and local, while evenings become more relaxed with people gathering for food, tea and sunset views nearby.
