The Mosque of Namazgah, also known as the Great Mosque of Tirana (Xhamia e Namazgjasë), is a major new architectural and cultural landmark that opened in October 2024. It was built as a long‑awaited central mosque for the city after decades of religious suppression during Albania’s communist era. With its four towering 50 m minarets, a 30 m central dome, and vast capacity for up to 10,000 worshippers, it’s now the largest mosque in the Balkans and a striking addition to Tirana’s skyline.
Beyond its role as a place of prayer, the mosque stands as a symbol of faith, cultural revival and religious diversity in modern Albania. Its graceful exterior, expansive courtyard, and classical Ottoman‑inspired design make it visually impressive, while the peaceful interior - with marble, calligraphy, and generous light - invites quiet reflection.
Visitors are welcome outside of prayer times, with separate entrances and respectful etiquette (removing shoes, women may be offered scarves).
