Ilulissat, formerly known as Jakobshavn, is a charming town in western Greenland that sits just north of the Arctic Circle. With a population of around 4,670 people and almost as many sled dogs, it's the third-largest city in Greenland. The town gets its name from the Kalaallisut word for "Icebergs," which makes sense because it's home to the stunning Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with massive icebergs. Tourism is booming here, making it a popular destination for travelers looking to experience the beauty of Greenland's icy landscapes.
