There are several ferry companies to choose from if you want to travel to the archipelago. Here is a list of them. Use their websites to plan your trip.

  • SL: The public transport in the Stockholm area. In addition to buses, commuter trains and the metro, SL also operates several ferries.

    • You buy your ticket on board when you board the ferry. If you have a (multi)day pass for SL, it's also valid on SL ferries. Otherwise, you can buy a single ticket by tapping your bank card. During the low season, you can use your 30-day ticket on Waxholmsbolaget ferries too. Read more about this here.

  • Waxholmsbolaget: provides public transport to most of the islands in the Stockholm region.

    • You buy your ticket on board (you have to hand in your ticket when you leave the boat). In the SL-area you can also travel with a valid SL ticket.

  • Stromma: The company that offers guided tours or day trips, but also the company that offers transportation to Fjäderholmarna.

    • It's recommended to buy your ticket in advance on Stromma's website or at their kiosk on Stromkajen and Nybrokajen.

  • Cinderella: A fast ferry to Sandhamn with stops in Vaxholm and Grinda. Only operates in the summer.

    • It's recommended to buy your ticket online in advance.
