🥂 Skip the tourist version — here’s how real Venetians enjoy their aperitivo.
In Venice, the Spritz isn’t just a drink — it’s a ritual. But while most tourists order an Aperol Spritz without thinking, locals have their own preferences.
Here’s how to order like a true Venetian:
🔴 Spritz Campari – Bolder and more bitter than Aperol. A classic choice if you like a sharper kick.
🔴 Spritz Select – The original Venetian choice. More herbal and bitter than Aperol, with a deeper red colour. Ask for “uno Spritz Select, per favore” and you’ll win instant respect.
🌿 Spritz Cynar – Made with an artichoke-based amaro, it’s a bartender’s favorite — earthy, herbal, and very Venetian.
🧡 Aperol Spritz – Still popular, especially with younger drinkers or those who prefer it sweeter. But definitely not the only option.
⚪ Spritz Bianco – A super local variation with white wine and soda — refreshing and simple.
📍 Where to Go? Try Al Squero, Cantine del Vino già Schiavi, or Bacareto da Lele — no-nonsense places with character, cicchetti, and crowds of locals.
👀 Bonus: Spritz is always a pre-dinner drink. Never order one with a meal if you want to blend in!
