Everyone visits Rialto and San Marco — but Venice rewards those who wander.

Some of the most photogenic and peaceful corners are just a few steps off the main path. Here are three favorites I always return to:

📍 Sotoportego dei Preti – A quiet tunnel in Castello with a heart-shaped brick said to bring luck in love. Early morning light here is magical.

📍 Calle Stretta – One of the narrowest alleys in Venice (you’ll have to turn sideways!). It’s a fun surprise for your camera and your feet.

📍 Rio della Madonna dell'Orto – In Cannaregio, this peaceful canal is framed by locals hanging laundry and the striking brick facade of the Madonna dell'Orto church. Ideal for golden hour shots.

These places aren’t in the average travel guide — but they’re all on my personal Venice Photo Map, available with my full guide or workshops.

👣 Tip: The best way to find these is to get a little lost… and then find yourself in the light.
