From 45.4301721,12.326172, across the Rio di San Trovaso, you’ll find a view that captures the heart of old Venice. The Squero di San Trovaso, one of the last traditional gondola boatyards in the city, sits peacefully across the water, with its Tyrolean-style wooden buildings, drying planks, and boats in various states of repair.

It’s a moment of real life — no crowds, no performance. Just skilled hands working in rhythm with wood and tide.

Tip: Bring your camera or sketchbook — or just lean on the railing with a spritz from nearby Cantinone Schiavi or San Trovaso cicchetti bar (both just around the corner). Late afternoon light makes the textures glow.

Nearby?

  • 🍷 Legendary wine bar Cantinone già Schiavi

  • 🥪 San Trovaso snack bar with cicchetti and canal seating

  • 🛠️ And of course, the bridge view of the squero just a few steps away (see previous To-Do)

This is a place to pause, not pass through.
