The Pyramid of Cestius is a simple yet unusual landmark in the heart of Rome, and it’s worth seeing from the outside, as access to the interior is rare and only possible through guided tours or on special days that require advance booking. You’ll find it easily near a metro station and within walking distance from the Protestant Cemetery, so you can combine your visit with a stroll around the historic neighborhood. It’s best to go in the morning or late afternoon for better light and fewer crowds. Bring a small bottle of water and some time for photos. Keep in mind that viewing it from the outside is free, while entry to the interior may have a small fee when it’s open.
