Nishijin is a cool district in Kyoto known for its awesome textile production. They make this fancy silk brocade fabric called nishijin-ori that's super colorful and shiny. The name comes from some daimyō dude who set up camp there back in the day. Nowadays, Nishijin is still weaving away, with tons of vendors making around ¥81.8 billion worth of woven products. It's a pretty big deal in the weaving world, with over 30,000 people getting in on the action. So, if you're into high-quality textiles and shiny fabrics, Nishijin is the place to be!
