Fjaðrárgljúfur is one of the deepest canyons in Iceland. The canyon is easy to access all year round. Fjaðrárgljúfur was formed at the end of the Ice Age, around 9000 years ago. Following the melting of a glacier, a lake has formed in the valley behind a huge hard and resistant rock. the canyon of Fjaðrárgljúfur extends over approximately 1500 meters.

The parking lot is at the bottom of the canyon.
