The best travel tip for anyone that is looking to see spinner dolphins in Hawaii is getting to Kealakekua bay - KONA SIDE - very early in the morning. The best chances to see dolphins resting on the bay is from 7 to 10am.

Note that is not allowed to swim with them anymore, so enjoy their presence from the shore and once they leave, take your snorkeling gear with you so you can swim on this blue crystal clear water.

ProTIP: if you consider yourself a good swimmer, snorkel from Kealakekua bay to Captain Cook (It takes an average of 1h each way). Snorkel close to the mountain (left side) so you can see beautiful coral formations!

If you do this by yourself it will save you at least USD 150 (what an average tour cost to take you there)

Have fun and remember to never swim alone.

Be safe!
