The route is one of the most beautiful panoramic hikes in Switzerland and combines everything you want from a hike in the Alps: varied paths, fantastic views, turquoise-blue lakes and cosy mountain inns that invite you to take a break. The route starts in Engelberg and brings you up by cable car to the Trüebsee. To the lake its a 5 min walk but it is actually the starting point to your longer hike. Once you did the steep ascent you can enjoy the fantastic panorama over the Engstlenee. And also there are many spots to take some nice panoramic photos. After this you will continue towards Melchsee, where it's nice to enjoy the restaurants, take a rest and enjoy the view.

Photography tip: make sure to come early in the morning, when the reflection is still there. In the afternoon there might be some wind...
