BikeMi – Milan’s Bike Sharing
How to ride around Milan by bike
Massimiliano Donghi
Milan, Italy
BikeMi is Milan’s official bike-sharing service, perfect for getting around the city sustainably and easily. The system includes a fleet of traditional (orange) bikes and electric (red) pedal-assist bikes that can be picked up and returned at over 300 stations across Milan. bikeMi operates every day from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM, and all access is managed through the BikeMi app, which is well made and lets you find stations, check bike availability and unlock bikes directly from your phone.
Prices & tickets:
Daily pass – €4.50: valid for 24 hours from first pickup.
Weekly pass – €9: valid for 7 days from first pickup.
Annual pass – €36: valid for 12 months.
(Prices don’t include usage fees for rides longer than included free minutes).
Usage charges:
Traditional bike: first 30 min included, then about €0.50 per 30 min, and higher rates if you exceed the 2-hour maximum.
Electric bike: first 3 min included, then rising incremental rates (e.g., €0.25, €0.50, €1, etc.) up to the 2-hour limit; after that, higher fees apply.
The app is essential — it’s how you register, unlock and manage rides, and it’s very user friendly.
