Skátalaug is a 100% natural thermal pond with water heated to the perfect temperature. While some might find too much algae and other vegetation in the water, the upper part designated for swimming has it in a tolerable amount. The pond is located in the Krýsuvík thermal area.

Skátalaug is about 300 meters off Route 42, roughly halfway between Lake Kleifarvatn and the geothermal area of Krýsuvík-Seltún.
