Best Places to Watch the Bonfires

Ehrwald, Austria

Best Easy Viewing spot (no hiking required)

Where we saw them and recommend: šŸ“Tiroler Zugspitz Arena

This region sits at the base of the Zugspitze and gives you a full basin view of multiple mountain ranges at once. That’s what makes it different.

There were lots of space and not crowded when we went in 2025, so you have plenty of space to find a base.

Why this spot is so powerful:

  • Wide, flat valley = unobstructed views

  • You’re surrounded by mountains on all sides

  • Multiple fire displays happening simultaneously

  • Plenty of space (no overcrowding stress)

How to access it (practical detail):

  • Walk out from Ehrwald town into open fields

  • Follow small farm paths / walking tracks

  • Head toward the basin (you’ll see others doing the same)

šŸ‘‰ ā€œPrimary Viewing Spot (Our Exact Location) — Head to the flat field area with open basin view, which is just a 10-15 min walk from town (our Google Location for reference)

Other easy viewpoints:

  • Around Ehrwald village centre

  • Open fields near Lermoos
