Activity: Horseback riding & nature immersion
📍 Location: Appalachian Mountains, Québec
🕒 Duration: Around 2 hours (can extend with farm visit or camping)
🍁 Best season: Spring to fall — lush trails, forest scents, and mountain views
If you love animals and the great outdoors, this experience is pure joy. Nestled in the beautiful Appalachian region, this horseback ride is more than just a trail — it’s a connection with nature and the herd itself. The hosts, Sandra and Jürg, are true horse lovers. They used to run a horse center in Switzerland before moving to Canada, and their bond with the animals shows in every detail.
The adventure starts by meeting the herd — about forty horses roaming freely across the property. You get to observe them up close, learn about their personalities, and even prepare your own horse with guidance from Sandra and Jürg. Before heading out, you’ll get a quick lesson in the merry-go-round on how to communicate with your horse — perfect for both beginners and experienced riders.
Then comes the highlight: a beautiful ride through the Appalachian trails, surrounded by forests, fields, and mountain views. Even though the weather wasn’t on our side that day, the experience was unforgettable. I went with friends who had been volunteering at the farm for a month — yes, you can volunteer too if you love animals! Because of that, we even got to camp overnight on the farm, making it a full countryside escape.
Whether you join just for the ride or stay longer to immerse yourself in farm life, this experience is a peaceful, authentic way to reconnect with nature — and with some truly wonderful horses. 🐴✨
Perfect for a day trip from Montréal or a weekend getaway with friends.
