Climb the Fjord, Step by Step
If there’s one adventure that captures the grandeur and thrill of Parc national du Saguenay, it’s the Via Ferrata of the Baie Éternité. We did the big circuit — and wow. It’s a full journey of ladders, ropes, iron rungs, and cliffside traverses, all while hanging high above one of the most dramatic fjord landscapes in Québec.
The views? Absolutely stunning from start to finish. Every section rewards you with sweeping vistas over the fjord that seem to change color with the tide and the light.
At one point, you’ll cross a suspension bridge suspended over the void — the highlight of the route. If you’re brave enough, you can even try a few tricks, like rolling over or hanging upside down (safely harnessed, of course) for the thrill of it!
There are shorter routes that take you directly to the bridge if you prefer a lighter challenge, but if you can, go for the full circuit — it’s one of the most beautiful via ferratas I’ve ever done.
Best enjoyed with friends, this adventure is open in summer and fall, and it’s even more magical when the autumn colors set the fjord ablaze.
