🚶 Best for: Hiking, wildlife spotting, whale watching & scenic coastal drives
🏕️ Tip: Camp, stay in a VR, or book Park Canada accommodations in advance
During our Gaspésie road trip, Forillon National Park was an absolute highlight. This Park Canada gem is home to a variety of wildlife — we were incredibly lucky to spot bears, porcupines, and even whales! For the best chance to see animals, try to explore early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Buy a Parks Canada day pass or show your membership at the gate. Arrive early in the summer because parking fills up.
A must-do hike is the Bout du Monde trail, where you’ll reach a picturesque lighthouse and several viewpoints over dramatic cliffs. We also recommend checking the small side paths alongside the main trails for more wildlife spotting opportunities.
You can bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery, but be careful — there are a lot of bears around! The sunset from the coastal road is stunning, and we even saw whales feeding near the shore. Apparently, the hills in the area bring nutrients into the water, which attracts plankton and, in turn, the whales — it was incredible to witness.
Last but not least, pets are restricted to certain areas and wildlife must be watched from a distance, so keep binoculars handy, respect marked trails and tide warnings.
Whether you’re hiking, driving along the cliffs, or camping overnight, Forillon is a perfect mix of adventure and wildlife experiences in Gaspésie.
