Le Canal de Chambly 🚴‍♀️ — Easy Bike Ride & Charming Town Escape

  • 🚲 Type: Bike Ride / Outdoor Leisure

  • 📍 Location: Chambly, Québec

  • ⏱️ Distance: ~60 km round trip

  • 💡 Best season: Spring to Fall

A Charming Ride With History

The Canal de Chambly is my go-to spot for an easy and scenic bike ride just outside Montréal. The route is about 60 km round trip, perfect for a day adventure along calm waters and beautiful landscapes.

The town of Chambly itself is so cute — I highly recommend stopping for an ice cream at the local chocolaterie and enjoying a stroll around its historic streets. The canal is rich in history, with its locks (écluses) that once played a key role in transporting goods and supporting Canada’s economic development. Today, it’s a peaceful and picturesque landmark, perfect for both cycling enthusiasts and history lovers.
