đ Best for: Road trip stop, local dining, grocery resupply & exploring the region
đ Tip: Book whale-watching tours and summer accommodations in advance
GaspĂ© is a charming coastal town and the main hub of eastern GaspĂ©sie, making it a great stop on your road trip. We stopped here to grab groceries, eat at a cafĂ©, and take a small break before continuing the drive. Itâs a practical and pleasant stop with restaurants, markets, and services â perfect for recharging.
The town also serves as the gateway to Forillon National Park, so many travelers use it as a base to explore the area. If youâre planning to stay longer, you can easily find options for whale-watching tours, beaches, or hiking, though we didnât try these activities on our visit.
Just a few things to keep in mind: public transport is limited, so youâll need a car to get around, and distances between places can be long. Make sure to fill up on gas and plan ahead, especially during the summer season when places can get busy.
French is the main language here, so knowing a few phrases will make interactions even smoother. Overall, GaspĂ© is a friendly little coastal town thatâs ideal for a short stop or as a base before diving into GaspĂ©sieâs natural wonders.
