A short hike without major difficulties. It begins in Slydalen and leads up to the summit of Blåtind at 604 meters above sea level. The hiking route alternates between flat terrain and relatively steep sections. The summit is part of the mountain range that overlooks the Vestfjord and crosses the large island of Vestvågøya. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the fjord to the south and the sea to the north.

Starting point: The paid parking lot is located at the end of the Slydalen Valley. Coordinates for Google Maps: 68.217865, 13.800215

Route: From Slydalen, follow a marked path up to the small ridge between Slydalen and Strandslett. From there, follow the signs towards Blåtind. The path gradually becomes less visible, and the final stretch to the summit is unmarked and without a trail. The last 50-100 meters are quite steep, and some minor climbing is required (climbing gear is not necessary). From the summit, there is a fantastic view over large parts of the Lofoten Islands. The hike varies between flat terrain and relatively steep sections. The last stretch to the summit can be followed along the ridge, which is very steep on the eastern side, but it is also possible to walk slightly west of the ridge if you suffer from a fear of heights. The summit itself is also very steep on the eastern side. During berry season, you can find both blueberries and cloudberries along the route.

Difficulty according to Norwegian standards: Blue = medium; hikes suitable for moderately trained hikers with basic hiking knowledge and some experience in the terrain.

Distance: ≈ 5.6 km

Elevation gain: ≈ 450 meters up & down

Duration: ≈ 3.5 hours
