The Banganga Tank is an ancient temple tank located in Mumbai, India. Built in AD 1127 by minister Lakshman Prabhu, it is part of the Hindu Walkeshwar Temple complex. According to local legend, the tank was created when Rama, from the Ramayana, shot an arrow into the ground, causing water to gush forth. Today, the rectangular pool surrounded by steps remains a cultural hub and a source of inspiration for artists. The tank is spring-fed, keeping its water sweet despite its proximity to the sea.
