Mount Seir is an ancient mountainous region located between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. It was named after Seir the Horite, whose descendants, the Edomites, settled there. The area played a significant role in biblical history, with mentions in the Hebrew Bible of battles, prophetic events, and tribal allocations. Mount Seir also marked the southeastern border of Egyptian Canaan in the Late Bronze Age. Today, it is known as al-Sharat in Jordan and holds historical and cultural significance in the region.
