Mount Chimaera, located in ancient Lycia, was a place known for its perpetually burning fires. It is believed to be the modern-day Yanartaş in Turkey, where methane and other gases emerge from the rock and ignite. Some ancient sources linked Mount Chimaera to the myth of the Chimera, a monster with a lion's head, goat's body, and serpent's tail. This fiery phenomenon has sparked curiosity and inspired legends throughout history.
