Rumelihisarı, also known as Rumelian Fortress, is a medieval Ottoman fortress located in Istanbul, Turkey. Built between 1451 and 1452 by Sultan Mehmed II, it was strategically positioned on the European banks of the Bosphorus to control maritime traffic and aid in the conquest of Constantinople. With its three main towers and watchtowers, the fortress played a crucial role during the Ottoman siege of the city in 1453. Today, Rumelihisarı serves as a popular museum and event venue, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history and architectural significance.
